Michael Jackson's mother Katherine goes missing

Los Angeles: Katherine Jackson, mother of popstar Michael Jackson and the guardian of his three minor children, has been reported missing, but the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says she is with family members.

Paris Jackson, the 14-year-old daughter of the late pop legend, tweeted early Sunday morning that her grandmother was missing: “I haven’t spoken with her in a week I want her home now,” she posted from her Twitter account. She also tweeted a number for people to contact in case they saw the 82-year-old matriarch of the famous singing clan.

The sheriff’s department said another family member officially reported her missing Saturday night because he couldn’t speak with her and was concerned. While the authorities are trying to reach Katherine Jackson, they also say she is with family members.

The family drama unfolded days after it was revealed that some of her children had written a letter to the executors of Jackson’s estate, alleging Michael Jackson’s will, which left his fortune to his children, his mother and charity, was a fake.

The undated letter, signed by Janet, Randy, Tito, Rebbie and Jermaine Jackson, alleged that Katherine Jackson was being manipulated by the executors, John Branca and John McClain, and said her health had been affected, and she had suffered a mini-stroke.

The veracity of the letter was confirmed by Randy Jackson on Twitter; Janet Jackson retweeted his post (The estate has denied the accusations).

However, Paris Jackson lashed out at her uncle on Twitter, saying her grandmother was fine: “I will defend my beloved family member with all I have, even if it means from other family members.” She later apologized, saying she just wanted to let people know that her grandmother did not have a stroke.

On Saturday, Jermaine Jackson tweeted that his mother was resting on the orders of a doctor in Arizona: “This is our mother and her health is paramount. We are not inventing or plotting anything. We are following doctor’s advice. Period.”

However, Paris Jackson tweeted on Sunday: “The same doctor that testified on behalf of Dr Murray saying my father was a drug addict (a lie) is caring for my grandmother … just saying.”

Dr Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the June 2009 Propofol overdose death of Jackson at age 50.

Katherine Jackson has been caring for Paris, Prince Michael and Blanket Jackson since their father’s death. It is unclear who is taking care of the children in her absence.

A representative for the Jackson brothers Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon, who are on a nationwide tour, did not immediately respond to an early Sunday morning request for comment, nor did a representative for Janet Jackson.

BG Sentence To 14 Years In Prison.

BG, a rapper that helped build Cash Money Records, was sentenced to 14 years for possessing a firearm, conspiring to obstruct justice and other charges. BG, born Christopher Dorsey, was sentenced on Wednesday in New Orleans by U.S. District Judge Helen Berrigan.

Judge Berrigan also gave BG three years of supervised release at the end of his jail term. The 28-year-old rapper pleaded guilty in December to the charges, which stem from a 2009 arrest. BG, a felon, was convicted on three other felonious charges from 1998 to 1998.

Jerod Fedison and Demounde Pollard were also sentenced to prison time for their role in the case. BG was a marquee artist with Cash Money Records and coined the term “bling bling,” which represented excessive jewelry.

12 shot dead at 'Dark Knight Rises' screening in Aurora, Colorado

Updated at 8:15 a.m. ET: Twelve people were killed and at least 50 others wounded early Friday when a gunman opened fire at a midnight screening of the summer blockbuster “The Dark Knight Rises” near Denver, authorities and witnesses said.

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates told reporters that 10 people died at the scene and four others died after being taken to local hospitals. However, a police officer later told MSNBC TV that the death toll had been revised to 12. A three-month-old and a six-year-old girl were among those treated, according to reports.

Police said the gunman had appeared at the front of the theater during the movie and released a canister which let out a hissing sound, which is believed to be tear gas. Witnesses told reporters that gunfire erupted during a shootout scene in the film.

Jennifer Seeger, who was inside the Aurora, Colo., movie theater where a gunman opened fire early Friday, describes the scene of the shooting as “mass chaos.

“It was mass chaos,” witness Jennifer Seeger told TODAY. “He was five feet away from me.”

The gunman shot the ceiling and then “he threw in the gas can, and then I knew it was real,” Seeger added.

“Everyone’s going for the door and then everyone starts saying, ‘no, he’s going to shoot people going for the door, and he did,” she recalled. “They’re trying to escape, and he shot those people as well.”

A suspect was apprehended in the shopping center’s parking lot, Oates said. He was named as 24-year-old James Holmes, two federal officials from different agencies told NBC News.

The incident occurred in the Century 16 Movie Theaters at the Aurora Town Center, police told NBC News. Aurora is a suburb less than 10 miles east of downtown Denver.

NBC station KUSA-Denver cited a witness as seeing a black-clad 6-foot-tall man wearing a riot helmet, goggles and bullet-proof vest.

However, many people attended the film dressed in Batman-related costumes.

Witnesses said the gunman entered the theater through an emergency exit door.

The suspect was found in possession of a gas mask, Oates said. Ammunition was found in the suspect’s car, police said.

Three firearms
Citing officials, NBC News’ Pete Williams reported that the shooter had three weapons — an assault-type rifle and two handguns. Holmes’ car has Tennessee plates but authorities believe he was living locally.

Oates said there was no evidence of additional suspects.

Holmes’s apartment building in north Aurora was evacuated after he made a statement to police about possible explosives at his home, Oates said.

An FBI official told NBC News that the agency was working with local authorities on the investigation, but that there was no early indication of a link to terrorism. Holmes was not on any federal law-enforcement watch lists, Williams reported.

President Barack Obama had been notified by counterterrorism chief John Brennan and was aware of the incident, KUSA said.

In a statement, Obama said: “We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded. As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family.”
